September has been a great month and it has only been 4 months since I started this blog. This will be a recap of some of my favourite September posts and a rundown of places that I have been to and food that I have cooked that I have not shared with everyone. I wish I could have more time in a day to do this. Unfortunately, I need to be in the rat race so that I can fuel my huge appetitie for now
My top 5 favourite posts in September:
- Yemeni – The new kid on the block – First time in many moons that a cuisine and food has excited my taste buds
- My first home made Char Siew Bao – Pre-mixed flour and store bought Char Siew but it was still made at home
- Sup Kambing – Perfect dish for keeping the cold away
- Chai Tow Kway – First recipe from Mum! And one of my favourite hawker dishes.
- Elevenses – Passion in a cup. Thanks to Shanny & Tom for bringing a bit of funk to Kensington
Since I have started working in South Melbourne, I have been introduced to new places to eat. I am still exploring but these are the few favourites at the moment.

- Roast duck- Very highly recommended. Nice crispy skin not it not ozzying with fat juices but still succulent and light. The meat is packed with flavour and melt in the mouth goodness. May be advisable to visit this place when the market is open on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. It will be a tad fresher!
- Cripsy & BBQ Pork – One of my favourites too. They are served with massive amount of rice and garlic infused stir-fry vegetables.
- Char Kway Teow - Lacking in wok hei but it has a nice flavour and I wish they didn’t add the ‘artificial’ crab roll. Nice juicy prawns will be great!
- Soya sauce chicken & Crispy Pork on egg noodles – Chicken is very moist and the broth has little or according to them, no MSG.

A colleague decided to check this out. We walked past it and almost gave up until I saw the sign. It is a tiny place with about 4 – 5 tables. There is a take-away counter up in the front. I had Unagi and egg on rice. The serving is rather small but the sweet glazed eel and fluffy egg taste made up for it.

This was the first time I met @cloudcontrol & @phil_lees of the blog, Last Appetite. It was quite funny looking at Phil’s face when he saw how much chilli @Th0i3 added to the broth! This place is not recommended unless you love MSG! And this was also the first time, I had a meal with another food blogger and I was glad I wasn’t the only one taking food photos at a table
Double Egg Yolk!
These are the ingredients that we usually use for our very regularly quick rice stick stir fry noodles. Crispy julienned ginger, lup cheong (Chinese dried sausage), loads of garlic, fresh red chillies. It is always a “oHhhhHhhh!” when I get a double yolk surprise! I had to take a photo of it. These do not come often
Hor fun
Hor fun is a thick rice noodle that is coated by delicious sweet & salty sauce. This is one of Mister’s signature dish. He does it so well and it just gets better everytime. We will usually add calamari but my fault! I forgot to get it from the market. But this is another of those regular weekday dishes. This small bowl is just for taste test!
My first Venison Pie
I tend not to post something that I feel is not good enough. It was a lovely idea and the venison was gorgeous. I got it from the farmers market and I was so excited in making the pie. Even after 6 hours of slow cooking with almost a bottle of red wine, it was still quite dry
I should marinate it overnight the next time. If you have a recipe, please share it with me.
I like to thank Nuffnang & DONs invite to the Salami lunch and I promise my post will be up soon! I wanted to make it quite special so extra time and care is required!
