Thanks to everyone that entered! It was really interesting reading all the comment and emails. A call to all Melbournians – Where is your favourite ramen shop? Before I carry on with my rambles, let me briefly explain what tonkotsu is. It is a cloudy pork soup base. It’s cloudiness comes from being cooked with crushed pork bones for hours. Hence, its porky aroma and heavy pork tastes in its broth. I received the cool pack from Ben & Jerry’s and it was quite funny how my colleagues reacted to it. I think I was the most popular person that day. And of course, I had to guard the communal freezer to make sure the ice cream tubs are still sealed and no one had stick their hands into the cookie jar The Ben & Jerry’s “Rolling Cone’ Kombi is currently roaming Melbourne and giving away free ice cream. Follow it on twitter to find out where the next location is. But you have to hurry because they are leaving Melbourne after the 27th of October and heading back to Sydney. Being away from Singapore or Malaysia means missing local street food. So when most Sydney food bloggers rave about this little place call Mamak (15 Goulburn St, Haymarket, Sydney), I had to go and check it out myself. Mamak is located in the heart of Chinatown. One of the signature dishes is the authetic and traditional roti canai or roti prata (a type of flat bread that is made from lard, egg, flour & water). |
