Addictive and consuming Melbourne restaurants

Charcoal Lane

I first visited Charcoal Lane in September last year. This white building used to be home of Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS). I have shady memories of walking past a prominent black, yellow and red coloured building almost everyday to and from Uni. And now it has become this white and somewhat majestic building. From the outside, one would never think that this is a restaurant. It will be good if there are big glass windows or glass doors to peer into this elegant looking restaurant.

Proud Mary

Collingwood must be very pleased to have the inclusion of Proud Mary to the growing list good cafes and restaurants. It seems to be an explosion of new coffee places opening every week. Cafes with roasters, cafes with expensive Synesso coffee machines, once a day cupping sessions and the list goes on. Coffee drinking has always been popular but now it is trendy. But how much do we know about it? Is it a novelty and I guess only the strongest will survive.

Wabi Sabi and a chocolate croissant

We are beginning to love Collingwood all over again. Having lived here for 4 years before, this place has changed but hasn’t? It is still gritty and somewhat ugly but it has always been full of character. But over the years, more cafes and littl restaurants have sprung up along this street. More yuppies have moved in and the face of Collingwood is changing.

Mister suggested that we headed to Collingwood for lunch as he wanted to try Goshen (Korean) and have some bibimbap. But alas, the place is closed for lunch. We went past Wabi Sabi when we visited Monsieur Truffe awhile back. This place has been around for 5 years and I am ashame to say that this is our first visit.

Chocolate heaven – Monsieur Truffe

Mister (Th0i3) was not fully satisfied from our lunch at Min Lokal and suggested that we checked out Monsieur truffee on Smith Street. Can I do it? A chocolate indulgence straight after lunch? I tried to convince myself that I would have just one hot chocolate.

As many cafes around here, the interior is furnished with odd pieces of furniture, decoratives and beaded curtains. And I do adore the paper origami chairs. They had little plates of tasting chocolate bits and I tried them all. They were so good! You should be there to see the big grin on my face. Heavenly!
