First of all, I will like to thank Casey of Eating, Garden & Living in Bulgaria for organising an African Day event to learn and experience the African culture through food.

I love Moroccan cuisine. The colours of the food is very bold to match their aromatic spices. As usual, I like to take myself out of the comfort zone and also wanted to make sure of this opportunity to explore other African foods.

We spent most of the day curling in bed or on the couch feeling very sorry for ourselves. I not only missed out on Collingwood farmers market, I didn't end up getting any groceries at all. There was hardly any food in the fridge and it hurt to think too much. I remembered that I read about vegemite pasta on one of the blogs. I had bacon, the new vegemite (Cheesybite) and spaghetti. I could make it. It sounded like a good hangover dinner.

Mister finally finished his exams. It isn't easy continuing to study and to work at the same time ever since he left University. It takes a lot of dedication and focus. It is a admirable quality. I know how hard it is. I did a 10 week course earlier this year and I was so exhausted by the end of it. Worth it but really hard work and a few sleepless nights.

Peko Peko is just a stone throw away fromMister's workplace so I decided to walk over and have a nice simple dinner together. This little funky and cute restaurant is located amongst both offices and residential buildings. Most of the lunch punters are office workers in the area and according to Mister, it is so pack and hard to get a table. Plus, food usually takes a while to be served. So he advised to have an early 11.30am lunch or a a late 3pm lunch. Dinner crowd seems reasonable and we got a table quite easily so if you do want to try this place, come in the evening instead of fighting with the lunch crowd.

Bak kut teh is a very popular dish both in Singapore & Malaysia. This will be a usual late night supper dish that I will have after clubbing in Singapore. The group will sit around the table, eat the meat, drink the soup, talk about the night and start sobering up before heading home! This is basically a pork rib soup that is slow cooked for hours with chinese herbs, spices and heaps of whole garlic cloves. There are other ingredients like fried tofu, dried mushrooms, ofals and salted vegetables that may be added to the soup. There are 2 different style of soup - one of them will be a clearer but peppery (white pepper) version and the other is a darker version (more soya sauce). And usually, it will be served with red cut chilli with dark sauce as the condiment.

Wendy was the first to arrived and it was hard to get a table for 8. The dining area on the 1st level is small and narrow. So it isn't catered for a big group. We were stuck to the low tables & stools which is the 'waiting are' up in the front end. As usual, were spoilt for choices. Fortunately, we had a large group and all of us could order what we wanted and share. We ended up ordering 12 dishes and 4 desserts!
