Dan’s House, Haymarket

by jeroxie April 29, 2012

Dan’s House is now officially opened. It is located on George Street in Haymarket. This modern Chinese restaurant is dressed in silver, gold and white bling on the first level and in darker tones and blues on the second level. The first level is more family oriented and I love the natural light that floods into the space. The second level is more catered to the evening crowd with a bar upstairs as well as a private room with a personal karaoke set!

Momofuku Seiobo

by jeroxie April 12, 2012

I do consider myself quite a lucky girl. Not many can say that they have eaten at 2 Momofuku joint. The first was the infamous Momofuku Ko in New York City when we were travelling last year. There was a few amazing dishes that still make me smile when I think of them. Any form of photography was not allowed at Momofuku Ko and so the blog post was just text. I really wish I could take the photos for remembrance but I guess it made me want to remember the taste more because I can’t take the photos. Hope I am making sense.

Eating in Surry Hills – Missy K

by jeroxie March 25, 2012

When I was in Melbourne, there was a couple nice local restaurants that we can walk to for dinner. However, we usually had to drive between five to ten minutes either to Flemington or Footscray for more delicious goodness. Moving forward from Melbourne, we are both living in Surry Hills. In my opinion, it is [...]

Kitchen by Mike, Rosebery

by jeroxie February 21, 2012

I can’t recall where I first heard of Kitchen by Mike. But if I am to make a wild guess, it will have to be twitter. It is usually my source of where to go and eat and play. It has relevance and I trust the twerps in giving me the right suggestions. What about you? What and where is your source of information? Anyway, Kitchen by Mike is in Rosebery which is about 10 minutes drive. We got out our trusted GPS and away we went. We were unsure when the GPS said “You have arrived at your destination.” Really? So secluded? Where is this place? Is this really 85, Dunning Avenue?

Korean roast pork neck and a Scanpan Giveaway

by jeroxie December 5, 2011

It’s Christmas and the time for giving. The lovely people from Kitchenware Direct asked what will I like to review next. There are so many gadgets that I absolutely love to have. For example, the Bodum Bistro Table Green or the health conscious, Cuisinart 3 tier steamer. As some of you may know, we moved from a larger house to a relatively smaller unit in Sydney. That meant our kitchen has shrunk and the oven is no longer a 5 burner but a 4. Our roasting trays no longer fit and have to be stored away. So I chose the Scanpan classic medium size roaster with lid. This is just one of the reason. Another reason can be found within the blog post.

Blood orange chocolate ganache tart

by jeroxie October 6, 2011

I was running out of recipes to post and had to dig deep into my drafts. I made these tarts last September. Yeap, you heard me right. More than a year ago and it is still sitting in draft. That is how out of control my drafts are. You will probably seem more of these old draft posts in the next few weeks or months until Mister and I are finally settled in Sydney and the kitchen is open for business again.

Chipotle roasted chicken wings

by jeroxie September 19, 2011

What a lovely weekend and I wish I was in a better state to enjoy it. I felt really lethargic and totally unmotivated. I wanted to cook something really fuss free but tasty. My initial plan leading to the weekend was to slow roast a hogget and make a pie or something. Alas those ambitious ideas were thrown out of the window and replaced by this humble and simple oven roasted chicken wings.

Pulled chicken burger

by jeroxie September 11, 2011

What do you mean pulled chicken? What is pulled meat? Basically pulled meat means slow cooking protein that can shredded by hand after. Well, that is what I think anyway. Do you agree? What do you think pulled chicken or meat is?

Rumi, Brunswick East

by jeroxie September 1, 2011

Mister and I hardly stay apart from each other for long periods of time. He means the world to me and I know that he feels the same about me. It has been hard having him gone for long periods of time now. And especially when I do need him the most at the moment, it is even harder. It is good that @mamajeroxie is here with me at the moment. However, it means that I lack a lot of time alone to make decisions and think about my next steps.

International Incident Mexican Breakfast Party – Mexican eggs with smoked eel

by jeroxie August 28, 2011

I love breakfasts. Breakfasts means weekend.  Please do not judge but I hardly have breakfasts during work days. It is usually a large latte and on occasion, a bowl of boring cereal. So breakfasts on weekends are so important to me. It has to be good. Actually, it has to be awesome to make up [...]

Duchess of Spotswood, Spotswood

by jeroxie August 16, 2011

The Duchess of Spotswood. With a name like this, it is clear that this cafe is steered towards something a little more English. And with a name like this, you will think it will sit in a rather posh area and not a quiet and plain looking street like Hudsons. The name does not matter to me. It is the food that counts. This place has been receiving raving reviews from many food bloggers. The curiosity finally overcome my laziness and we decided that it might just be worth the effort.

Chin Chin Melbourne, Melbourne CBD

by jeroxie July 5, 2011

This is my second visit to Chin Chin. It is the Chin Chin on 125 Flinders Lane that everyone is talking about. It is the new IN place to be seen eating and sipping cocktails in Melbourne CBD. The brains behind Chin Chin is Chris Lucas and the man in the kitchen is Andrew Gimber which will be joined by Ben Cooper from St. Ali very soon.

International Incident Terrine Party – Sushi terrine

by jeroxie June 28, 2011

I have eaten my fair share of terrines but have only made one terrine in my entire cooking life. To be honest, I am not particularly a big pan of terrine. They are pretty look at and some are delicious but I sometimes think that it lacks punchy flavours or just way too rich for my liking. I guess I never had the perfect terrine.

Cooking the Books – Momofuku Brick Chicken

by jeroxie June 26, 2011

In March 2010, a group of us came together and cooked a #momofukurage dinner. Rage because we felt “cheated” that all tickets to the David Chang’s dinner during the Melbourne Food and Wine festival (2010) was sold out within minutes of release. Are you serious? Are you freaking serious? The twitterverse was in rage and so we decided to have a Momofuku pot luck dinner party where we each picked a dish from the cookbook and cook it.

International Incident Cake Pops party – Dulce de Leche cake pop

by jeroxie April 17, 2011

Cake pops seem to be increasing in popularity. But many people seem to be afraid to try making them at home. I did procrastinate for a little while which is why I decided to make this as a theme for April. I needed some sort of motivation. I did a fair bit of research and to be honest, I was trying to figure out the easiest but yummiest way to make these cake pops. Also I picked tips from the recent article on Herald Sunday Food that showcased cake pops as the new and upcoming pop stars.
