Seven Seeds (114 Berkeley St, Carlton) is a new venture that is opened by Mark Dundon. He is known for his passion for coffee. Other outlets that you may be aware of are St. Ali in South Melbourne & Baba Budan on Little Bourke Street. The spacious & high ceiling cafe is set up in a warehouse. On the right when you enter, you are greeted with a wall covered with bicycle racks.

Muesli, pastries, savoury/sweet toasts & hot pressed sandwiches makes up the menu. We ordered a latte each. How I just love the aroma of good coffee especially after a night out. :|

I ordered the french toasted brioche with pear, ricotta, roasted almonds and honest maple. The dish was so well balance. The sweetness was not overpowering with the clever use of ricotta. I like the play of texture on the plate. I wish there was a little more ricotta to mop up the toast. Or may I had too much of it too fast! I am not usually a big fan of sweet breakfast dishes but I am SOLD. :) :) :) I wanted more more more! Was almost licking the old skool green tin plate that it was served it but was stopped by Mr. H…..

Mr. H ordered a sardine, onion & sherry chutney, fontina hot pressed sandwich. It comes with a nice fresh crunchy cabbage salad and a slice of lemon. This sandwich reminds both us when we were students and eating sardines from a can. This is not said in a bad way! The sandwich is lovely and so comforting. Fresh sardines were used. The chutney was a slight tang and made this dish come alive! The melted fontina added the extra dimension to this dish. YUM YUM! :) :) :)

Tummy is totally satisfied. Awaken by the aroma and taste of the nice latte. Breakfast at 2pm. And why not? It is not the usual bacon & eggs but it works just as well for me. I highly recommend it to anyone that want a long lazy Saturday afternoon breakfast. Come in, speak to friendly service staff, eat, drink and hope to catch Mark or Bridget for a chat about their passion. Only good things happen here. :)
