international incident lavender party

This theme has proven that is not a well loved ingredient Lavender to be used. Too much of it will make the dish smell and taste like eating potpourri. And also lavender is mostly associated with scented candles, soap and clothes softener. So I have to applaude everyone that join the party and had fun with it. We have sweet, savoury and even body lotion! Amazing collection of lavender dishes and a whole lot of creativity. There are combinations of flavour that I never thought could work together worked and looked fantastic.

So here we go, let’s check out what everyone has created. Some of you may be converted to like lavender a little more after this ;)

Evelyne of Cheap Ethnic Eatz – Lavender Salve & a Martini

Honey of Honey and Soy – Lavender Grey macarons

Mardi of Eat, live, travel, write – Pink macarons with lavender and lemon buttercream

I-Hua of I-hua – Lavender Sorbet

Cherrie of Sweet Cherrie Pie – Lavender madeleines with lavender sugar

Trix of Tasty Trix – Sweet and spicy lavender honey quickbread

BIRTHDAY GIRL Leaf from The indolent Cook – Lavender Tang Yuan

Amanda P of Dancing Veggies – Lavender Crepe with Lavender Raspberry Cream

BIRTHDAY GIRL Annapet of Moonglow Gardens – Lavender Creme Brulee

Caroline of When Adobo Met Feijoada – Lavender-Vanilla Marshmallows, Cardamom-Lavender Ganache and Hot Chocolate

Caryn of Pepper, salt, sugar, spice – Lavender Salt Encrusted Lamb

Judy of Foodie Dreams - Crumbed Lamb Cutlet

Ju of Little Teochew – Coconut sweet potato (steamed) cake

Maya of Foodiva’s Kitchen – Lavender-Black Sesame Éclairs with Dulce De Leche Crème Mousseline

Ellie of Almost Bourdain – Chocolate Panna Cotta and Lavender Cream Recipe

Casey of Eating, Gardening & Living in Bulgaria – Herbes de Provence Crusted Roast Pork

Katherine of Urban Cook Journal – Lavender & Honey Fizz

Lastly, my super rich and moist chocolate and potato cake with chocolate lavender ganache

What I can confirm is that lavender and chocolate are best friends. They compliment each other. There are so many tips from everyone that I enjoyed reading and learning. The effort that everyone made is overwhelming. Lavender is not found everywhere and in some countries, they are a rarity. So thanks again. :)

Thanks for all your efforts Penny, you do such a wonderful job bringing this together! I had a lot of fun working with lavender and really enjoyed seeing what other people created as well. My first International Incident Party, this, and it’s been a great one! :)

Wow, you guys really came up with some terrific creations with lavender! I’m personally a big fan of it, and especially loved the lavender syrup I’ve done for a past recipe. I’m so sorry I wasn’t participating this time. I hope I will come out of my “blogging blues” by the end of November :)

Wow, everyone is so clever to create a dish for this party. Honestly, I love the fragrance and colour of Lavender, but very hesitate to cook anything with it. Very impressed by all the dishes here.

very jealous of all you ladies that had it readily available! I went to a handful of stores before calling around to see if anyone still had some that was still living. I think I’m going to have to find some more because I want to try this chocolate/lavender combo that you blog of
Looking forward to next month, I have a feeling salt will be a much easier item to locate!

I loved the challenge with lavender. Salt is going to be tricky I think…humm. Thsi has become my favorite monthly challenge you know!

Don,t mean to nag…but there are 3 mistakes in my intro line…Evelyne with an E at the end, Eatz with a Z and my title looks like a strike through :-S

How insanely perfect do those Lavender grey macarons look??? Precision! I’m also not a huge fan of lavander.. once had a cupcake and almost gagged because like you said, it tasted like potpourri. These creations however do look tentalising but I’d have to get some courage to try!
