HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO EVERYONE!

Rose flavoured lassi with pistachio

Rose flavoured lassi with pistachio

Myself, Maya from Foodiva Kitchen and Trix from Tasty Trix as decided to post something from the cookbook, Tropical Asian Cookbook on the same day and time. It’s just for fun and a little different. This little challenge has given me more insight into one of my favourite non-alcoholic drink, lassi. Lassi is a very popular Punjabi yoghurt drink. It is usually very popular with Indian or Pakistani food and can be either sweet or savory.

I bought 500g of pistachios. Most of them was consumed while making this drink :)

Lassi comes in so many flavours and not just the mango lassi that I usually order at the Indian restaurant. I will definitely be keen to try the savory version where salt and cumin are added to the yogurt drink. Even this rose flavoured one is something that I have not tried. The lassi is only very slightly hinted by the rose. The pistachio gave this creamy drink a nice crunchy texture. I actually crushed and added more pistachio as I shared it with Mister. Super yummy and will be making more soon!

By the way, what are you doing this Valentine?

Penny, what a lovely Valentine’s drink! I’ve been using plenty of rosewater in my recipes lately so I know exactly how this will taste….absolutely gorgeous!

Mmm, this looks so pretty. I am positively addicted to rose syrup, so I am sure I would love this with its more subtle cousin, rose water. Happy V-day, Ms. Penny!

So beautiful, Penny. Love the red background to add an Asian feel to this drink.

Love lassi! And, rose + pistachio is such a romantic flavour – great for Valentine’s! Don’t know what I’ll be doing – it’s not a very important event for us, might just go for a nice dinner and walk either today or tomorrow but nothing extraordinary. What will you be doing? ;)

Eeep! I love the look of this! Though would you believe that I have every ingredient on hand, and adored pistachios…. BUT I’m housesitting for my parents and so my fancypants blender is halfway across town. Tragedy!

Happy Valentine’s Day :)

Slurp! I love lassi and what a great way to play around with the flavours. Rose is one of my favourite additions to sweet stuff. This would go down beautifully with a thali.

You know.. I’ve never had lassi and I think it’s high time I give it a whirl with this recipe, Penny :)

Oh I’ll probably eat almost all of the pistachios before they can come close to being in the drink also, but I’m sure I can keep some squirreled away until time to add them!

I have only ever had a choice of strawberry or mango lassi, and am always choosing the mango. Mmm rose would be so nice! And I love the sound of pistachios added too!

I love the look of this, lassi’s are fantastic and I really like rose. As much as i love pistachios i get a bit bored shelling them, especially when most of the ones I shell my daughter eats ;)

Love your lassi with the addition of pitachio…a very healthy drink. The first lassi that I tried was a peach lassi. It was SO good…..lovley flavour, refreshing and delicious.

So, I just asked a co-worker who happens to be from India if she’d ever had lassi. She laughed at me and said ‘lassie?? Lah-SI, yes, it’s very common in India!’ So, yeah, I told her about this recipe and she got all excited.
