This is the first day of my Christmas and New Year holiday. Finally, I had time to head out for lunch with my mum that was visiting at that time. After finishing up some work email and pottering around the house a little, I decided to take my mum to Naked for Satan for lunch before heading to Slow Food at Abbotsford Convent to pick up pre-ordered holiday season party supplies of meats.

Naked for Satan is a great concept. Pick up a plate and then start filling it with pintxos from the counter. Keep the toothpicks in a plastic container and pay at the counter once you are done. Each toothpick represents one pintxos. One pintxos is $2 each for dinner. for a short time only, it is only 50cts per pintxtos during lunch (noon – 4pm) So hurry up before this offer runs out!

These little pintxos may look relatively small and harmless but mum and I were rolling out of the door after having 14 of these little babies. To be fair, we did have a hot chocolate each. The pintxos bar was filled with goodies and it was quite hard to pick the ones that I wanted to try. The blue cheese and crumbed eggplant was one of my favourites. The scallops and green pea puree was just lovely… I mean it is only 50cents!

If you do pop in, try to go slow on the cold pintxos as there are occasions that a wait staff will walk around with hot pinxtos. Mum & I managed to squeeze in a hot chorizo and potato croquettes. Do not under estimate these bite size morsels. I actually ditched the bread and just ate the toppings.

If mum was not with me, I would have ordered a vodka infused cocktail or two. I will definitely be back here with friends to enjoy more pintxos and this time with a vodka in hand. :)

@nolamjames @FriendsofMine_ that is true… is that a form of false advertising then?

Actually I can remember that they started their lunchtime pizzas at $2 it was some time later that it went up to $4 but I spoke to the owners of Naked for Satan and they said it has created such a good vibe that they will try to keep it at 50 cents for as long as they can. They said that as long as people buy a drink (even if it’s a coke or mineral water) they can afford to keep going. Still the best deal in town I reckon.

Oh, how I wish that I could live in Melbourne.
Sushi Train counts by plates. But, counting the price you paid by toothpicks….Interesting!
And the name “Naked for Satan” is very catchy too. They do have the business mind. Love that.
Are they opening any branches in Brisbane?

I am from the Basque region and I must say Naked for Satan is every bit as good if not better than we do it back home. The pintxos are authentic, the Sangria (Tinto) outstanding and everything about the place is truly FANTASTIC.
