I was and still am totally thrilled to be offered the opportunity to test out the new Panasonic Lumix TZ10. The reviews that I have read have been pretty good. I spent the last week taking it everywhere I went. The new Panasonic Lumix TZ10 comes with a 25mm wide-angle, 12x optical zoom, LEICA lens camera. Pretty impressive specs. So what did I think of it?
I was very excited to test out the GPS tagging system on the Panasonic Lumix TZ10. You should see the big stupid grin on my face when it picked up a suburb that I was catching a train from. As many GPS system, it isn’t as accurate as we want it to be and often a delay in picking up a new location. The other to thing to note is that the GPS is still active when the camera is turned off but will turned itself off when the battery is about a third left.
The EXIF data which is the standard location information is picked up by Flickr when I uploaded this photo to test out this functionality. This makes travel photos a breeze to tag and organise! Absolutely love it! No more manual tagging on the map. Save time and pain!
I am a food blogger so obviously, I love close up shots of food. I baked some cookies over the weekend and played around with matcha powder (can you sense a matcha post coming up soon?). Just to note, the skies were pretty dull on the day. I made use of the manual mode for this test shot. It is really easy to adjust the aperture and shutter speed from the buttons at the back. For a seasoned compact and DSLR user, there is little use for the manual provided. It did not take me too long to get use to the camera and the menus and buttons on the camera.
I am pretty rapped about this shot.
What do you think?
And another close up shot of a orange and rhuburb friand that I had at the Slow Food farmers market on the weekend. Snap and away and by the way, it did pick up Abbotsford on the GPS. #scored #win
With a 25mm wide angle lens, I could capture much more into a single photo. It is great for landscape and to fit a big group of friends in.
This next shot was taken while I made a mad dash to The Langham. The Panasonic Lumix TZ10 has introduced the Panasonic Intelligent Auto (iA) mode. It came in really handy. When I pointed at the building, it was intuitive enough to switch to a night scene mode and away I snapped. This photo was taken one-handed and I am pretty impressed that it captured the image without much trouble and with just a small blur. The Panasonic Lumix TZ10 comes with a double hand-shake correction. I guess if I used both hands instead of one on the move, this photo would have been much better and sharper!
One important thing to note, the Panasonic Lumix TZ10 comes with 55 scene modes! And guess what, there is even a food mode! And the self-portrait mode actually tracks where your face is.
Overall, I love the sturdiness of the Panasonic Lumix TZ10 and I believed that they’ve nailed the ergometrics. It just feels right. It is a little bigger than the usual compact but it’s packed functionality certainly make up for it. The other thing that I loved is the big 3inch LCD screen and I had no issues viewing the photos under bright sunlight.
This 12.1 Megapixels compact camera is now retailing at $650. If you need more information on specs, please head over to Panasonic Lumix TZ10 to find out more. Or please feel free to leave a comment with the question and I can try and answer them the best I can. Or even take some test shots and send it across to you

I'd love to take the Panasonic TZ10 to southern Western Australia during the spring season to take great close up photos of all the beautiful wild flowers and birdlife.
I would take the Panasonic Lumix TZ10 to Thailand, Phuket and take photos of the Phuket scenery
With it’s ability to take such beautiful close ups, I would use this compact to take emotions of people and things everywhere around me-from the absolute love in the eyes of my young pup, to the lasting commitment in my partner’s expression, to the happiness on my parents’ face when I step out of the airport on my return visit to s’pore..
i would take the Panasonic Lumix TZ10 to a few of the ladurees in europe or even japan and photograph the exquisite restaurants! Also so that i can one day use the photos to replicate the amazing decor and beautiful furniture in my future home!
I would take the TZ10 back to Palawan, Philippines to take photos of our beautiful beach-side barbeque lunch of freshly caught crab and squid!
I would take the Lumix TZ10 down to the river in my town. For the first time in years the river is is flowing again and so much wildlife is returning.
This is the camera that I use. so I don't feel so bad about not being eligible.
RT @jeroxie: The Panasonic Lumix TZ10 Giveaway ends tomorrow! http://jeroxie.com/addiction/my-new-trav... Many thanks for all the comments.
I would like to take it to the Yellowstone National Park to take shoots of the hot springs, landscapes and wildlife!
I will take the Lumix on my upcoming tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. I'll capture the amazing colours and rapidly fading colonial architecture of Phnom Penh. I will take many shots of the incredible Khmer people, both young and old, whose faces tell so many amazing stories. I will take many photos of the relatively untouched architecture found in the charming sleepy little provincial town of Kampot three hours by car from Phnom Penh. I think I will focus a little on the impacts of recent war still plainly visible on the some of the buildings in that town; mortar round holes and sprays of automatic weapons impacts in the plaster render on walls down alleys which evoke thoughts of the close combat which happened 'right here'!
I will contrast this with pictures taken of the relative order and beauty to be found in Saigon. I plan to shoot many studies of the unique, beautiful and rare original Asian Art Deco furniture to be found in small stores and warehouses there if you know where to look (and I do). I will also take video and stills at the many lovely venues I will be singing and playing at, sharing my music with the appreciative audiences I am lucky enough to perform for. Damn! I need that Camera
Thanks
PJ
