Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm
244 Shands Road, Main Ridge 3928
I have been to Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm on several occasions. It was visited in my first year as an International Student and then when I was seeing Mister in our uni days. So I do have a very soft spot for this place. It is always filled with happy and sweet memories. They were memories of laughter and freedom. And I remember that I brought home a huge bounty of strawberries. I would be eating them in the car on the way back and my fingers and nails will be stained with strawberry sweetness and stickiness. Those were great memories.
This post took a little longer as I was digging around for these old photos! It brought back memories where Mister and I were away in Sorrento for a romantic getaway.
This is Sunny Ridge when we took it on a beautiful sunny day in summer.
This is silly old me! Mister and I were picking strawberries in the strawberry fields. The fields are not open for picking all year round. Strawberry picking season is from November till April. The Gallace family is known for its strawberries but they do grow raspberries and blueberries as well.
I was really excited to head back to Sunny Ridge. Timing was really tight between places so it was just a pop in and out. The place has not changed. Maybe more strawberry products and the cafe is still going strong. The cafe offers a range of berry desserts that you and your family can enjoy. If I had more stomach space, I would have wanted to try this strawberry sundae.
Walking around the shop, my eyes darted to blueberries, raspberries and strawberries jam. There were also strawberry filled chocolates. I was quite surprised that there were still late strawberries available! I had a couple and oh wow, they were pretty sweet! I wish I could take the whole basket home.
For those that love strawberries wine and liqueurs, there is complimentary wine tastings available. Most of the strawberry wines and liqueur are sold under Rebello which is actually owned by grandchilden of the Gallace familiy. I met the son at the recent SBS Food Journey event and we had a chat about the sparkling, Charlotte and also his range of Cheeky Rascal cider which I absolutely adore!
A pity that we had to rush off to our next destination. The goat waits for no one! Can you guess where that is?
Stay tune for the rest of our adventure in Mornington. And also check out what else we did:
