What’s the catch?
Buy a drink to get this $5 steak deal at the Forresters and it’s Monday only. Simple as that.
The Forrester re-opened after being closed for renovation. I did not have a chance of checking it out before they close the doors for renovation but do like parts of the newly revamped Forrester. There are 2 service bars and a dining room upstairs.
We tried a few dishes before they brought back the $5 steak night. The food photos were too dark and ugly. One should never try taking photos in a bar or pub after much intoxication of alcohol. They all turned out rubbish. The sticky ribs and polenta chips were serious business and must order. The pork roast that we had was dry. A couple of friends went back and tried the roast again but was disappointed as well. But they do pretty decent pizza. It is salty and just right for the after hours crowd
Here is a snap shot of the lunch specials.
And a snapshot of the Forrester daily specials.
And how was the steak? If you are in the hood on Monday, it is worth checking it out. Just order a coke like most people do and that will set you back about $7.50 for a steak and a drink. Not a bad deal right? It’s $5 so I am not complaining that they overcooked my medium rare steak. The mash is creamy and buttery. And perfect amount of gravy for me to finish off the steak. Overall, this is a great deal.
Most punters that day were ordering coke but instead I requested if I could have the lemon pie milkshake ($7.50) instead. This is actually not counted as a drink but I think the bar person caved in to my “but but… this is a milkshake? And milkshake is a drink?” This is considered as a dessert and it sure as hell is! Imagine lemon pie filling. That is the consistency and how it tastes like. Very fatty, lemony and just full of sin! It is also highly addictive and I refrained from finishing it by myself. Weak… I know but every spoonful of the milkshake (must use spoon) adds an inch to my already expanded backside!
It is a nice but at times rowdy local that I should hang out more at. The food is decent, large and decent bar. Best of all, it is a hop and a skip away from our beds.
