We have yet to find a nice and decent pho place around our area but have definitely stumbled upon one of the best banh mi in both Sydney and Melbourne. It’s a big call and the decision might be based on our desperation to find decent Vietnamese eateries and meals close by.
We first heard about this hole in the wall pork roll place in Marrickville on twitter. And one weekend, we happen to chance on it while driving Illawarra Road. I yelled out to Mister to stop, hop out and got ourselves one pork roll to share. OMG… It is good, very good.
This tiny Vietnamese shop sells only banh mi and it’s $4 a pop. It is pricier than most places in Melbourne but also at least a quarter size bigger. It is a really affordable meal by itself. There are other options like chicken, BBQ pork, meatballs, pork skin or bi, salad only and one other that I can’t recall.
The baguette is crispy fresh. I wonder if they bake their own but am doubtful because of the size of this place. I may be wrong. I love the pickles. Not too vinegary or sweet. The Marrickville pork roll has the right amount of pork layers verses pickles, coriander, cucumber, spring onion and fresh cut chillies. We love it! By the way, it is recently voted as Sydney’s best banh mi on the Noodlies’ blog!
The photos in this post is taken and edited using th iPhone 4S and using Snapseed as the photo editor. The photos are then uploaded to Flickr so that I can write the post on my iPad and attaching th photos from the WordPress plugin. Blogging on the iPad is not as easy. I think I shall stick to the laptop for now. I just wanted to try it out and see if it is feasible.
What do you of the photos? Will love to hear what you think and if you have blogged using an iPad or tablet.
