After a rough night of sake and blue martinis, we needed a good breakfast to get us going. We got our sorry arses up from the bed and walked uphill and round the corner to this little french cafe called Le Petite Creme (Shop 2, 116-118 Darlinghurst Rd, NSW). Mr. R said we were fortunate that we were early and there was a table outside available for us. It is really quaint. Menus are handwritten on chalkboards, little round wooded tables and chairs made up the furnishings. All the waiting staff were French. I guess they speak French and have a strong accent, it made them French.
Caffeine orders were made. And now for the breakfast order. We were going to spend the whole day of eating so decided to share our breakfasts. We were spoilt for options. Mr R swears on their French toasts. And My H concurred so French toasts it was. And yes it was damn bloody good! The toast used brioche and that added that extra luxurious taste. And a generous dose of honey and topping of icing sugar made this dish even more sinful. And not forgetting the bits of crunch on the bottom. The most popular hangover cures are sinful. And it usually works
The toasts comes in 2 slices but as we were sharing, they were kind in enough to spilt it in 2 plates for both our orders! Sweethearts!
And we ordered the special, Eggs Benedict with ham, to share. It came again as 2 portions. The hollandise sauce was fantastic. Creamy, rich, a good balance of acid and I thought I tasted some mustard in the sauce too. And I love how the egg yolk oozes out when cut open. Moods were defintely lifted after having such a beautiful breakfast.
It seems that the omelette or rather eggs is a speciality in this place. Just check out the chalkboard that I’ve posted above for the full menu. I will surely drop by again in my other trips to Sydney. Je t’aime!
Double YUM UP!
