Fruits of Passion (188 Bellair Street, Kensington) is our usual takeaway coffee place almost every weekend before we head off to the markets. It is always packed over the weekend serving its local with breakfast & coffee. The place has a nice outside area and water bowl for pets. Exposed brick alls lined the interior which is quite small, narrow but full of buzz & character.
They serve the usual suspects of toasts, bircher muesli, crumpets to eggs benedict. Milkshakes seem to be a popular choice here so I assume that they must be good. I ordered a Savoury muffin with poached free range eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, fresh spinach & a simple dressing ($14.80). Instead of my usual soy latte, I ordered a pot of lemongrass tea instead. I must say the coffee is really good so if you do pop by, worth giving the coffee a shot.
The muffin was really light and I could see and taste bits of carrots & parsley. The dressing went well with the poached egg and smoked salmon. Nice brunch dish and will keep me going for a bit A little more seasoning is required though.
Mister ordered the eggs benedict (poached free range eggs served on fritters with leg ham, cheese, avocado, fresh spinach & hollandise sauce) and a strong latte. It was quite a rich dish. The fritters was actually hash brown. A pleasant surprise and quite delicious. However, the hollandish sauce was a tad too sharp for our liking.
It as lovely sitting outside and brainstorming about a new project to be. It did start off with a nice warm morning sun but eventually, the skies turn grey and it was time to head home. It is a nice little local cafe to spend the Sunday. Chilled out and relax.
(Please note: The toilet is located on the side lane and it isn’t the prettiest thing you ever seen. And this place is CASH only! )
