Mister (Th0i3) was not fully satisfied from our lunch at Min Lokal and suggested that we checked out Monsieur truffee on Smith Street. Can I do it? A chocolate indulgence straight after lunch? I tried to convince myself that I would have just one hot chocolate.
As many cafes around here, the interior is furnished with odd pieces of furniture, decoratives and beaded curtains. And I do adore the paper origami chairs. They had little plates of tasting chocolate bits and I tried them all. They were so good! You should be there to see the big grin on my face. Heavenly!
I was doing my own thing and taking a few happy snaps and I thought I was in trouble when Monsieur Truffe or Thibault started walking towards to me. But instead, he insisted that we need to photograph him and Libby in order to photograph the rest of the shop and food. Of course, I was more than happy to oblige! By the way, he is a real French man with a genuine French accent.
They were really kind enough to smile and waited for us to set up our camera for the shot. And I bet that they are used to food bloggers as well
We ordered 2 hot chocolate and they came in the cutest Japanese cups and wooden spoons. And GOSH! It had a creamy richness. It was sweet but not offensive. Perfect cup of hot chocolate. Mister took a photo of my licking the spoon but I do not think it is a good idea to post it.
Mister ordered a flourless chocolate cake to share. This was a small slice of chocolate heaven. It is very rich but light. A thin chocolate crunchy & flaky top followed by the smooth googey dark chocolate fudge. We were just hmmm… hmmmm….. hmmmm while we slowly devour the piece of perfection on a plate.
And lastly, we ordered a scoop of cherry sorbet to try. Ice cream is a new addition to their menu. The sorbet was tangy but lovely sweetened cherry flavour. The waffle thin chocolate was quite bitter and it complimented the sorbet very well.
It was a little disappointing to find out that the dessert menu in the evenings have been cancelled for the time being as the dessert guy is away in Barcelona. I hope he comes back soon! I will definitely be interested in attending the chocolate appreciation class and can’t wait till they get their liquor licence. No wonder @tomatom has been tempted to move to the North.
Do you have a favourite chocolate place that you go to? Or favourite chocolate dessert for pure indulgence?

Wow, chocolates. I would definitely love this place. I could actually live there. Anything with chocolate is just pure heaven. Of course, the chocolate has to be good. I have been in a chocolate place but didn’t like it that much. Still looking for a place of pure indulgence. That flourless chocolate cake and cherry ice cream is enticing.
Hi Jeroxie!
Did they say at Monsieur Truffe if Pierre Roelof’s was coming back to do desserts in the evening? I was under the impression from the article below in Epicure that he wouldn’t be. Sad news, since the girlfriends and I had been keen to try out the desserts at night.
