Round up – International Incident Nostalgia Party

by jeroxie March 28, 2011

Sorry for the late round up. I was busy with Twestival Melbourne in the last couple of weeks as I ran around trying to get sponsors for food, wine and auction items. And then I started my little stint at Steer on the weekend. I can’t wait till I am on the plane and on the way to San Fransico. And I am hoping to sleep all the way there and arrive fresh and recharged!

In this month’s Nostalgia theme, I have learnt a lot more about fellow food bloggers and what makes them go a little teary eye but happy! It can be canned foods or re-creation of an old favourite. It does not matter. It is something special. Something that brings you back to a happy place. Here are all the beautiful nostalgic creations and you really should be visiting them all. A very meaningful theme and thanks to Mardi for suggesting it.

International Incident Nostalgia Party – Kuih huat

by jeroxie March 20, 2011

What is kuih haut? Translation from Hokkien, kuih means cake and haut means to prosper. Kuih haut is a Malaysian style cupcake and it is a very Nyonya type cake or kuih/ kueh. My grandmother used to make loads of these when I was younger. Many of kuih haut ended up as offerings to the various Chinese Gods that she used to worship. She used to make the standard ones for the Chinese Gods and then coloured ones for me!

Round up – International Incident Sundae Party

by jeroxie February 24, 2011

What a month and what a theme. I will like to thank everyone that participated and came to the party. We are all getting better with each theme. The ideas and the creativity and the willingness to explore and try new ingredients, new methods of cooking and most of all, I think everyone had loads [...]

International Incident Sundae Party – Banana muffin sundae

by jeroxie February 20, 2011

My dream of coming up with an awesome sundae is shattered. I had to bake the muffins twice and by the time, I prepped the ice cream for the photo, it turned really ugly. And after 4 shots, the whole thing fell over. I felt defeated. It was one of those days that nothing really went right in the kitchen. So please forgive me for producing a rather sub-standard contribution to the party. Sorry and hope I can redeem myself next month – Nostalgia. This is a special request by Mardi of Eat Live Travel Write with strong support from several other bloggers.

International Incident Sundae Party

by jeroxie February 8, 2011

After some of the most creative hotdogs I have ever seen in my life, we need something sweet. So I thought we can go crazy and playful with ice cream sundae. I was not allowed to have more than a spoonful of ice cream of any sort when I was little. Too sickly and too weak according to my parents and grandma. No cold stuff, no fried stuff, no “heaty” stuff …. nothing that will make me sick I guess. There will be kids party and there will be ice cream sundae and I can only watch. Sounds sad for a kid?

by jeroxie January 28, 2011

What a crazy collection of hotdogs that everyone made and brought to the party. Dessert hotdogs? Macaron hotdogs? Sushi hotdogs? And of course corndogs! So many wacky ideas and I love them.

International Incident Hot dog Party – Panko Chicken hotdog with buffetta

by jeroxie January 16, 2011

The first International Incident Party of 2011. I hope everyone is well and good and ready to rock 2011. I have recently set up a GROUP and a FORUM page for #iip. I am not a coder and still trying to tweak and figure out the site. There is no more need to email the link and recipes to me. All party people will have to sign up, join the group and post the link and image (300px X 300px) to the assigned thread (example – here) I will still do a round up every month and if it is your birthday month, please remember to leave a comment so that I am able to acknowledge and link up to your blog

Round up #10 – International Incident Colour Party

by jeroxie December 21, 2010

This is a pretty spectacular theme. Everyone stepped up to it and produce some amazing and vibrant dishes. We have Christmas logs to colourful sushi! We have wacky and “intoxicated” Christmas macarons to pretty and elegant Christmas and picture perfect cupcakes. We also had playdoh and rainbow cookies. And even the vegetarian dishes look so tempting and vibrant!

International Incident Colour Party – Cherries and blueberries compote with marzipan and cinnamon chocolate muffins

by jeroxie December 19, 2010

This December has been a month of madness. I have not been so stress, so anxious in December. There is just so much going on. Work is a little hectic with a project that needs to be partly approved before heading into Christmas holidays. Mum is in town and needs to be entertained. Social commitments [...]

The last one of 2010! Thank you so many of you that have supported and joined this party. I want to make the last theme as colourful as possible as it is festive and holiday season. Round up #9 – International Incident Salt Party

by jeroxie December 1, 2010

Thanks everyone for being patient this month. Just returned from a trip to New Zealand. I have finally read through all the contributions and I must say caramel and salt is the most popular but killer combination. We can make a 5 course dinner starring salt and not get bored of it. Salt is a [...]

International Incident Salt Party – Salted caramel ice cream with candied bacon

by jeroxie November 21, 2010

I am really excited about this month’s Salt theme. Initially, Mister and I were fairly confident that we could bake our first macarons. But as usual time flew by us. We realised that time was not our side and had no time to practice. So instead of fearing that it could all end up disastrous, I ended up taking a much safer route but still absolutely delicious.

There are different parts to the recipe but is totally worth it. I had a lot of fun tasting testing it along the way.

Round up #8 – International Incident Lavender Party

by jeroxie October 25, 2010

This theme has proven that is not a well loved ingredient Lavender to be used. Too much of it will make the dish smell and taste like eating potpourri. And also lavender is mostly associated with scented candles, soap and clothes softener. So I have to applaude everyone that join the party and had fun with it. We have sweet, savoury and even body lotion! Amazing collection of lavender dishes and a whole lot of creativity. There are combinations of flavour that I never thought could work together worked and looked fantastic.
