A date with Kate Gibbs and Kraft Philadelphia

by jeroxie January 26, 2012

I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email asking if I was interested in spending Saturday morning learning food styling/photography session with Philly ambassador, Kate Gibbs. I use a fair bit of Philadelphia products in my cooking and follow the blog, The Kitchen Inc. So absolutely!

Why I spent 24 hours in Wellington

by jeroxie October 25, 2011

I could not help myself. A trip to Wellington to eat and drink? How could I refuse the offer even though I was in the middle of moving interstate, in frantic state of packing, decluttering our home and in the midst of the busiest time at work. I was mad but madder if I gave up this opportunity.

Schweppes Cocktail Revolution at Southern Cross

by jeroxie October 21, 2011

It is so great to get out of the office for a little bit. Work has been super crazy and I missed out on the sun this week as I have been eating at my desk and just working away.

If you have some time for the next couple of weeks, head on down during lunch or take a sneaky break from work and get down to Southern Cross Station. Schweppes has set up a really cool execution called the Schweppes Cube bar. It is located at the upstairs foyer where the shopping strip is at the station.

New Schweppes Cocktail Revolution

by jeroxie October 15, 2011

What’s happening at Southern Cross Station? What is a Schweppes Cocktail Revolution? I am not saying ditch the beer, cider and sparkling wine this summer. I am saying have a new friend. Have a go at drinking and mixing cocktails. Start simple like one of my all time favourite – Hendrix Gin & Schweppes tonic with a couple slices of fresh cucumbers. So delicious! And I love the classic Mojito which is rum, mint, sugar, lime juice and Schweppes soda.

Crave SIFF 2011 – Malaysia Kitchen BBQ Madness

by jeroxie October 3, 2011

I was really fortunate to have a small taste of Crave SIFF this year with an invite from Malaysia Kitchen to attend the BBQ Madness event in Parramatta. The timing could not have been more perfect. I was up for work the same time as BBQ Madness was on. And to top it off, it is a Labour Day in Sydney which means no work on Monday! Bam!

Taste of Melbourne 2011

by jeroxie September 16, 2011

I was fortunately enough to be invited as one of the bloggers to join a group that got to go indoors before the event started. The start time was 5pm but I was late due to a last minute work meeting. Phew! I still got there before the doors open on tram 96 from South Melbourne market. And guess what! I bumped into @msihua in the tram and I think she was in shock when I suddenly spoke to her when she was exiting the tram….. the look on her face was classic.

Nuffnang Blogopolis 2011 – My randomness

by jeroxie August 4, 2011

My random notes that I took at the first Nuffnang Blogopolis event in Melbourne on the 30th July 2011. This conference was attended by 300 Australian bloggers and held at Zinc (Federation Square). “Most bloggers in a room performing the Mexican wave.” So did we get into the Guinness Book of record? Someone? If you [...]

Streetsmart – CafeSmart Project and Jeroxie turns 2

by jeroxie June 8, 2011

Most Melbournians woke up to 4°C super cold morning today. I was super rugged up. Thick woolie scarfs, big buffy jacket and woollen tights kept me fairly warm. And even then I was complaining about the cold winter day. I will stick my little finger sticks out in the cold air and she shrunk right back into the warm pockets of my jacket. And did I mention that I had the luxury of hiding most of the day in the very well heated office in South Melbourne.

Guest Post – Malaysian Hawker Style Cooking with Chef Wanitha

by jeroxie May 22, 2011

I have a soft spot for anything Malaysian or Nyonya and that is due to my background. Even though I am born and raised in Singapore, I still have family back in Malaysia and grandparents were originally from Penang. And I have been a keen student of the Malaysian cuisine and owning many local Singapore and Malaysian cooking books.

Bulla cream masterclass with George Calombaris

by jeroxie April 15, 2011

How does it feel being picked up by a chauffeur? I was pleasantly surprised as I expected a mini van type bus and not a nice black limousine as a form of transportation to the meet up venue, The Langham. It’s a real chauffeur with a uniform, hat and one that opened the door. And where was I taken to? It was an invitation to attend a Bulla Cream Masters Masterclass with George Calombaris. Many Australians will know him as one of the three Masterchef judges and many Melbournians will be familiar with his restaurants like Press Club, Hellenic Republic, Maha and also the up and coming, St Katherine’s, which is scheduled to open in Kew very soon.

Decadence 19th Century Dinner at the Werribee Mansion

by jeroxie April 10, 2011

We were blessed with a beautiful Friday and I actually took a day off to enjoy a long 4 day weekend. I had a lovely breakfast at Garden Tuscany, dropped the dog off at a doggy care and then drove down to Werribee Mansion. It took us a mere 30 minutes. Werribee always seem like a faraway place from where we live but in fact, it is really close to the CBD. But I have to admit that the drive was quite uninspiring. There was no green grass or moo moo cows along the way but instead industrial type infrastructure lined the highway. And to be honest, we were slightly… worried.
