Getting chunky with Ben & Jerry’s

I received the cool pack from Ben & Jerry’s last week. I think I was the most popular person in the office that day. And of course, I had to guard the communal freezer to make sure the ice cream tubs are still sealed and no one had stick their hands into the cookie jar ;)

The Ben & Jerry’s “Rolling Cone’ Kombi is currently roaming Melbourne and giving away free ice cream. Follow it on twitter to find out where the next location is. But you have to hurry because they are leaving Melbourne after the 27th of October and heading back to Sydney.

It has been a rather busy week at and out of work. I have to admit that it took a lot of will power to wait till the weekend before I had the first taste. The 3 flavours – Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Strawberry Cheesecake tubs came together in the cute cow print cool pack. I felt totally spoilt with choices and did not know which to dig my spoon in first. Check out their website for more yummy flavours.

Ben & Jerry’s ice cream are famous for its creamy texture and big chunky bits. Plus I am very glad to find out that Fairtrade ingredients like vanilla, cocoa, coffee and brazil nuts are used. My personal favourite is the Chunky Monkey. It had a nice banana flavour and I get big chucks of chocolate and walnut with almost every bite. It was hard to stop after one mouthful ;)

The Chocolate chip cookie dough was Mister’s favourite. It feltl like I was biting into chunks of googey cookie dough.

I wish I had more time to be more creative with the ice cream. The thing that I miss from my childhood and Asia is the sandwich ice cream. I made my version with the Strawberry cheesecake flavour. I toasted a piece of white bread, sliced it into half and sandwiched the ice cream in between. I added thin of slices of fresh strawberry just for colour and because it looks great on photo ;)

I had so much fun trying all these flavours. And to get some of chunky goodness, Ben & Jerry’s is now availiable in selected deli around Sydney & Melbourne.

If you were to make your own chunky ice cream, what flavour concoction will you have?
