Avocado milk

I love avocados. It is such a versatile superfood. I love the creamy texture and taste. It is greaten eaten plain. Mashed it up, a squeeze of lemon/lime juice and a pinch of salt and you get guacamole. And in summer, it can be churned into lovely creamy avocado ice cream. To add to its diversity, avocado is the main ingredient for natural beauty treatment for the face, eyes & hair!

Ripe avocado is preferred in this recipe. And the way I remove the seed from the avocado is to use the end of the knife to strike the seed. Give it a little twist and it should separate itself quite easily from the flesh.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado chilled and cubed
  • castor sugar
  • 1tsp orange blossom
  • 375ml chilled milk

This is also inspired by Mary Moh’s recent avocado milk post. I added the orange blossom so to give this drink a little Moroccan twist. So instead of having the usual banana or strawberry milkshake. why not try avocado? I may try using honey instead of sugar the next time.

Is there any other healthy fruity milkshakes that you like to share?

YES please to that avocado drink. Anything with avocado is always, always welcome. Good avocado, I mean. Now, I don’t have avocados. I have to wait. :)

We are starting a avovado fever like Mary said! Maybe we should make a list of avocado recipes and make them all?

Everytime I go to Bali I OD on avocado drinks. There’s one with chocolate in it that’s pretty amazing too. Great way to start the day!

Avocado & chocolate? I will like to try that as well. Is it cocao powder or chocoalte syrup?

I was pretty sure it was syrup, but googled and all the recipes I found use chocolate milk. If you're already adding milk, I'm guessing a good syrup would work just as well. I think I'm gonna get me some avocados!

For the extra decadence, I could use dark chocolate shavings. Get the avocados sweetie :) And thanks for the link.

yum! I’ve had an avocado shake and that was good but a little rich. I’m assuming that this is thinner and would be probably a bit more to my taste (and I love orange blossom water) :)

Yes, I added more milk to make it a little thinner. I do not mind if it is creamy as well. And I love orange blossom too! They add an extra depth!

This is an unusual recipe but I think I'd like it! The orange blossom water is a lovely idea. :-)

I’ve never thought of using avocado as a drink, I usually just slice it and put it on salads/sandwiches or make guacamole out of it :)

I wouldn’t mind trying to make this though, just have to figure out where they carry orange blossom water.
