Ah I really want to win this! My parents are visiting from Tassie that weekend and I would LOVE to take them.
My fave restaurant in Melbourne currently is…..gee thats a tough one…Libertine in North Melbourne….because I had the most divine pork belly there – sex on a plate hehehee

Out of everywhere I've been in Melbourne, my boyfriend and I keep going back to one place in Chinatown – City BBQ! Fluorescent lighting, dingy surroundings, snappy staff and they really pack the patrons in.. but they make a fried rice with salted fish that is to die for.
It's funny – we always wonder where to go to dinner, which new place to try, yet end up choosing City BBQ anyway.
My favourite Melbourne restaurant is Rumi, East Brunswick, because the spice rubbed lamb shoulder is the softest, most delicious meat I've tasted in a long time.
I haven't gotten a chance to try many restaurants here just yet but my favorite so far has been Solarino on Little Collins. I'm obsessed with pasta and they have really delicious spaghettini!

My favourite restaurant in Melbourne is Cafe Rosco (407D St Kilda Road – next to McDonald's and Subway), which is a branch of Rosco's at Chevron (539 St Kilda Road).
Rosco's is an Italian Restaurant that serves the best pizza and pasta. With a whole lot of variety of pizzas, their hot pizza favourites have to be Tandoori Chicken, Red Devil (spicy) and Gourmet Vegetarian pizzas. So versatile, they accomodate easily for extra chilli, no anchovies, add or minus this and that, just the way you want it.
Their whole range of pastas are to die for! They can cook Spaghetti Marinara in tomato or cream sauce. Absolutely yummy! Pastas range from $11-18, really affordable and they allow you to order entree size too.
In terms of service, they have friendly waiters and waitresses, very homely ambience with dim lighting. It does help that they cater for take-aways in case I cannot finish my large portion of meal. If I want to have some of Rosco's food at home, I could call them up to have them delivered since I stay in the area. They will arrive within 20 minutes. Simple, easy and yummy. Suitable for vegetarians too because they accomodate well!
Please, let me win this Jeroxie!!! I want to take my hubby to Taste of Melbourne 2010!!!
My favourite restaraunt in Melbourne is Anada. The food is divine and the wine list impeccable.I especially adore the kingfish and the deepf ried mussels mmm The ambience is warm and inviting. Its easy to never want to leave! every time I eat there I count down the days til I next return
This is my entry!!
My favourite restaurant in Melbourne, narrowed down to CBD must be Takumi Japanese Restaurant at Bourke Street. They have very tender and juicy wagyu beef. What make me fall in love with the restaurant is their all you can eat deal on that delicious wagyu beef! With approximately $50-55 per person, you can order as much wagyu beef as you want, plus ox tongue, best miso soups in town, salads, some veggies and hot filling rice too! Of course there is seafood too =D What's not to like about it?!
cheers
Wow, it's that time of the year again, already?! Wow, it rolls around so quickly!
My favourite Melbourne restaurant would be Anada on Gertrude st, Fitzroy. (That's still counted Melbourne, isn't it?
It's so reasonably priced and the food is just as good as movida, if you ask me. It's always the first place that I recommend for a nice night out and I did eat there the same night as Stephanie Alexander – so, it must be good!
My favourite restaurant in Melbourne is…that question is too hard! But at the moment, I'd say MoVida Aqui. Faultless.
Jetsetting Joyce
Fave restaurant in Melbourne? That's a tough one.
Currently I'd say… Maze.
I love all Melbourne Restaurants!!! Most of them anyway.. but my fave at the moment is Embrasse @ Carlton… plus Nic Poeloert is going to be at Taste of Melb serving horse! I wantssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Circa – consistently fabulous food, and a seasonal menu which is constantly changing.
Momo, has to be Momo. Greg Malouf's b'stilla is amazing – he made it with duck last time I went. The service and attention to detail is perfect, we went for two birthdays and a graduation, and they piped "happy birthday" and "congratulations" on the dessert platters, and put the correct salutation in front of the right people!
Dainty Szechuan in Toorak! Why? Because the La Zi Fei Chang (辣子肥肠) is to die for, and the Suan Ni Bai Rou (蒜泥白肉)is awesome. The Shui Zhu Yu (水 煮鱼) is divine, and the Ma Yi Shang Shu (蚂蚁上树)is the best I've ever tasted. Not to mention this wonderful little dish that I can't remember the name of. It's silken tofu drowned in garlic sauce with bits of century eggs sprinkled on top. Well worth every single garlicky burp that will send your mates reeling for hours afterwards.
I love Fenix in Richmond. Love their innovative menu

Such a tough question – I find it so hard to pick favourites!
My favourite restaurant at the moment would be Cumulus Inc, because I'm still fondly remembering the fantastic lamb dish we had there the other month.

currently wooga: 270 victoria street, north melbourne.
their set menu for 6-8 people with the lot satisfies my family of five (obviously we enjoy to eat.. a lot!) the service is good, the cuts of beef are excellent for the price ($120! good value!) and the accompanying dishes (seafood pajeon, steamed pork wrapped in lettuce – bossam, communal spicy seafood soup, marinated octopus glass noodles) really round up the beefy bbq goodness!
we've brought many people to share this gem of the place and one particular couple from singapore returned another two times following their first visit.. (they were only in melbourne for less than two weeks!)
What a terrific give away. Unfortunately, an ocean separates me from the event which I'm sure will be fabulous. I hope you are having a great day. Blessings…Mary
Bistro Vue! I first went 2 years back and was blown away. 2 years later, it still does. No wonder Vue de Monde is one of the best restaurants in the country. Even at the bistro, impeccable service and impeccable food.

I love the Richmond Oyster Bar. I cannot cook fish to save my life, and everytime I go i get a fresh, perfectly cooked fillet of a fish I have picked from the 'shop' case, the best chips i have tasted so far in Melbourne, and a salad all for under $30. I have been in Melbourne 6 months, and have been here over half a dozen times, it is by far my favourite resturant in the city!
Ooh just one restaurant? So hard to pick! I would have to say it would be Santiago in Middle Park – beautiful tapas food and its the place we also had our first date at!
Hmmm.. my new favourite restaurant is the Abyssinian. Went there for the first time last week, and it was amazing. A beautiful way to share a meal with close friends, and lots of flavoursome vegetarian options are a win too.
So many top quality restaurants in Melb…and me and my partner's pick would been…Montezuma's! Its not the best restaurant but its probably one that we'd be always happy to go to. I know, its a little naff but we've always found the food to be hearty and yummy. You can always walk in and get a seat – no need for too much planning. There's a good atmosphere and they do a good variety of frozen margaritas (yummy Mango is my fav). Plus its not too expensive and I don't have to feel too quality about blowing all that money on eating out!
I wish I lived in Melbourne to win this giveaway, lol.

So many fine restaurants in Melbourne, I am planning a trip there to coincide with Taste of Melb! I do like Longrain because the food is so fresh and the restaurant is in a convenient, central location for visitors.

It's been a while since I last dined there but my favorite would have to be Florentino on Bourke St. Great service, tasty pasta and delicious hot chocolates.
There's a lot of restaurants in Melbourne that I have not tried yet.. So far my favorite is Maha Bar and Grill. I can still remember the atmosphere they created there as if I was in a different place. The smell, the furniture and the cutlery wow.. Great service, great food and nice ambience
D.O.C mozzarella bar restaurant off Lygon St. Love the warm fuzzy Italian family atmosphere and the fresh freshh freshh ingredients!! and every dish comes perfectly to my taste buds.
mamasitas
fresh mexican
best in melbourne
nice relaxed vibe and love the tacos there!
Oooooooooh someone already grabbed Mamasita. I don’t have a budget that supports the top fine dining restaurants but for something that is simple and special at the same time I fall in love with Boire (smith street) every time I go. Beautiful rustic french food and a wine list that you have to explore. Brings out my inner Elizabeth David every time I go.
Narrowing down to just one is hard but I love Gingerboy for it's dressed up hawker food. Their duck curry is to die for.
Ananda on Gertrude Street is my current my fave. The 9 course degustation menu for $49 would have to be one of the best value tastings in town. The food is always superb, the service is spot on and seasonal changes to the menu mean the classics are there but there's always something new to discover.

Hutong Dumpling Bar. Ordering plates of food and having friends sample and share together. Xiao Long Bao's soup are awesome for cold Melbourne winters night.
Gordon Ramsay’s Maze – it is totally a-maze-ing! Excellent service, nice ambience, brilliant balance of flavours and the execution of dishes is perfect!!

I wish I would be there for the event, but I won't. Man, I love the Taste of Melboune festival. I'm so sad I can't be there to win these.
Delicious scents wafted from the kitchen
As we ate delicate duck enveloped in freshly made pasta
Soon our steaks arrived, cooked to perfection
The smoky meat melted in our mouths
Along with crispy onion rings
Always room for dessert
Passionfruit marshmallow pillows
A wonderful end to a night at Rockpool
Cocoro Japanese Cafe in Fitzroy is really delish! They have pure classic Japanese cuisine that's affordable with abundant servings. It's only a 10 min tram (86) ride from Bourke St. The Wafu Chicken will blow your mind.
Cumulus inc is my favourite in Melbourne. The service is great and the food simply brilliant. We will usually end the night with rum ba ba . It will have to be their best selling desserts.
Groove Train located at Melbourne Central. Food is great and unpretentious. Atmosphere is fantastic – relaxed and friendly. Good food, good atmosphere, good company, what more could one want for a dining experience!
Cafe Vue at Heide. The food and coffee are to die for. It is designer taste without the pricetag and it is a stones throw from my house. Well worth the drive if you live anywhere in mebourne.
I just moved to Melbourne in January to be with my partner and knowing no one else and feeling a real sense of disconnect, I've found a lot of comfort in exploring the range of restaurants in our area. The one I keep going back to for its comforting but exotic flavours is African Taste by the corner of Victoria and Buckley Street in Seddon. While Footscray has a massive array of food, this place just seems to come out on top with its fusion of East African and Mediterranean flavours. Any worries about starting my life here can pretty much melt away at a taste of their beautiful, spiced lamb tibes and injera, or even a whiff of their gnocci. I love this place and it is starting to embody what is so wonderful about Melbourne for me – a mix of cultures, foods, and people. So maybe I do fit in here.
I'd love to have an opportunity to go to Taste of Melbourne as I want to continue exploring Melbourne's food culture and seeing what this city has to offer.
Meat & Wine Co because the food is worth the dough $$!
Steaks are cooked to perfection there. It's definitely like their slogan says 'Steaks you'll leave home for'!
